My perspective on the therapy room:

A safe, nonjudgmental place where the therapist approaches people who seek help for different reasons without preconceptions. Psychotherapy introduces a path of growth and awareness, helping people become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behavior. It helps people help themselves. It rests on trust in their cognitive and emotional capacities, allowing them to recover their ability to think, endure, discover, and find their way again through introspection.

Another important step is recognizing that change must come from the individual, together with accepting responsibility for oneself. Along this path, the therapist helps clients identify inflexible patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior and supports them in changing those patterns. Clients themselves have the greatest access to their inner world, enabling them to recognize their needs, wishes, and tensions and make decisions in the moment. The therapist helps them discover that access and accompanies them along the way.
