My perspective on the therapy room:
The therapy room is a space for thinking and growth. We sit with clients and try, together, to understand their inner psychological world and move forward along a path of growth. I believe the therapist's most important task is to receive and process the patient's feelings and emotions. Along this difficult path for both patient and therapist, we seek to receive the patient's emotions without returning them in an unprocessed form, as may happen outside therapy. Their experience with us should differ from previous traumatic experiences and those in the outside world. We need to be an object that feels, receives, processes, and gives meaning, so that the patient's frightening, unnamed feelings and emotions may become more acceptable and integration may become possible.
