My perspective on the therapy room:
Each of us has a story about ourselves and our lives that deserves to be heard. Relief and healing lie in telling and hearing the details of that story and understanding its complexities. The therapy room offers an opportunity to look at the story differently and eventually develop a new, coherent narrative.
It is a safe space for experiencing a different bond with another person: a relationship unlike those experienced before, providing a setting for self-reflection and discovery. Within this relationship, the safe point enables clients to journey into the misty areas of their minds and understand the unconscious roots of their difficulties. The capacity to think can then replace repeated patterns. Clients come to understand their limitations and their origins, becoming able to create a new path with greater awareness and creativity. By loosening the unconscious urge to repeat experiences, they can gain a wider range of choices in life.
