My perspective on the therapy room:
The therapy room is a place where clients are accepted unconditionally, without judgment or being labeled as patients or as having particular disorders. Clients learn to climb their own mountain, just as the therapist climbs theirs. The difference is that, while climbing, the therapist can also observe the client's ascent, whereas the client cannot yet do the same for the therapist.
Here, clients can allow constricted feelings to flow and, with the therapist's help, develop awareness and a commitment to change. They learn to accept the parts of life that cannot be changed and take effective action toward those that can. Ultimately, clients can reach an important understanding: effective influence over their own lives, something they lacked before therapy. This work takes place with a therapist who has also undergone their own therapy.
