Child and adolescent analytic psychotherapist
Golnar Rezazadeh

My perspective on the therapy room:

In analytic psychotherapy, the therapy room provides a facilitating, healthy, reflective environment. Younger children process anxieties, conflicts, and inner psychological processes through play, while older children do so through words. Over time, these experiences are revisited within the relationship with the therapist.

My experience during the pandemic and in online work suggested that, to benefit more from online therapy, children should be at least nine years old or have well-developed verbal and cognitive abilities. For younger children, parent training can be used when circumstances require it. In my experience, adolescents can participate in online therapy without this age limitation.
