My perspective on the therapy room:
For me, the therapy room offers a space to reconnect with ourselves. Analytic psychotherapy gives us an opportunity to observe our relationships, actions, emotions, and fantasies within a safe relationship. We observe the recurring reenactments in our lives so that, through therapy, we can understand the fantasies and needs behind them. In the therapy room, we seek to strengthen our capacity for self-observation and our awareness of our repeated actions. Within the therapeutic relationship, we can remember these experiences, put them into words, recognize the true story of our lives, and live it with greater awareness and vitality.
